ABOUT US....
Who we are:
Lara and I were both raised in Fairbanks, Alaska,
but we started our mama careers in other places: in Vancouver,
Canada (Betsy) and in Kasigluk, a small village outside Bethel, Alaska
(Lara). We started Blueberry Baby after returning to Fairbanks
and sharing our mutual frustration about trying to find quality cloth
diapers, maternity & nursing clothes and natural parenting supplies
and support. We finally decided to do it ourselves, and have
found amazing support from the Interior Alaska community and far beyond!
Our goal at Blueberry Baby is to supply Fairbanks
families with high quality, affordable products for maternity, cloth
diapering, nursing, baby care and natural parenting, as well as support and
information. We encourage practices that are environmentally
sustainable, and we look for products made from natural, recycled, and
organic materials. Our consignment program helps families reuse already
existing products. We buy as close to home as possible while still
maintaining our quality standards. We support local craftspeople
through our artisan program, and support work-at-home parents
whenever we can through purchasing their goods. Blueberry Baby also accepts
quality used nursing and maternity items and cloth diapers on
consignment. We are work-at-home moms, committed to maintaining
the health and well-being of our families, and to helping others do the
same.
Blueberry Baby has had an amazing year of growth and
transition, as we now have a total of six active children, ages 1-6 in
our two families. The littlest berries are Lena Grace (Lotze family) and
Cirdan Elias, (pronounced Keer-dan, Vonnahme family). They are both sweet and
precocious little ones, keeping us busier than ever and testing out lots of
samples of this and that, the best of which end up in our store.
. We look forward to bringing you ever more well tested, fabulous natural
products.
